Hello my dear reading beasts!
You all know this was not easy AT ALL! If there is a question we all bookworms fear is… What is your favorite book [of this year, or ever!]
HOW DO YOU PICK ONE BOOK
WHEN YOU HAVE READ SO MANY GREAT BOOKS???
This is just so anxiety inducing, right??! So, let me list the top books I read this year…
And the winner is…
This books was just freakantastic!
Daredevils in futuristic suits diving through a hellish sky!
The average life expectancy for a Hell Diver was fifteen jumps and the Dive into a hellish, poisoned Earth so Humanity Survives!
The captain of The Hive is a woman, and a very respected and capable captain who is shouldering the responsibility of the survival of the remains of humanity [five hundred and so souls] under these impossible conditions. HELL YEAH, GIRL POWER!
The daredevil, let’s call him X please. Short for Xavier Rodriguez but really short for Xman, eXtremely eXtraordinary and seXy. X is perfect. A badass daredevil “diving so humanity can survive” [sigh] [sigh] [sigh]. I’m in love with this X guy, just so you know. This is the guy you want to be stranded with in a desert island when the ship sinks. Though he is a totally flawed drunken asshole [well, he lives in the Hive people] he is also awesomely brave and selfless.
Just HELL. Literally. Hell on earth. A post-apocalyptic poisoned Earth and a massive, overpopulated, claustrophobic, disease-ridden, airship “The Hive” that is pure post-apocalyptic Steampunk awesomeness! An over-sized, modern, more sophisticated version of La Minerve…
A Dystopian/Apocalyptic readers’ Disneyland! Actually TWO well-defined and fantastically developed worlds!
- The Hive: Sickness, social inequality, famine, rebellion. And then
- A poisoned Earth, with its crazy climate, wastelands, ruins of the abandoned cities
Both worlds were so well-thought! The technical specs of the divers’ suits when walking on Earth, the creatures that inhabit it, and the life in the Hive, how the farm, manage their waste, deal with sickness and crime. Family relationships, friendships, love affairs, political and personal dramas brewing everywhere… Love, hatred, loyalty, betrayal. You name it… Nick thought of it!
So, if Santa didn’t bring you this book for Christmas…
GO RIGHT NOW AND BUY IT!
