#AmReading and #Blogging and Productively Procrastinating!

…And how spawns make you a better person!

Hello my dearest reading, writing and blogging beasts! Another Springgedon update…

Thursday was Grasshopper’s birthday. We took him to his favorite burgers place, Red Robin, and to watch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 which we all loved!

Here he is opening his presents {video games of course!}.

Talking about Mother’s Day… I can’t believe I have been a mother for ELEVEN years now!!!

It still feels like it was yesterday when Grasshopper was born. And I guess it feels that way because, I gotta tell you, having a kid is such a life changing event!

I’m totally a different person now My proportions of good and evil have change for the better. The level of self-centerness decreased dramatically after I became a mom.

Because, you know, you do tend to think about someone else other than yourself…

Kids are these very high-maintenance creatures that need constant attention [can you believe they actually eat EVERY day and more than once!!! OMG!] for someone that never had pets or even took care of younger siblings, making sure another creature does eat every day is HUGE. And then, there is also stuff like… volunteering for their activities! = better me!

And, I’m a much more skilled person too! Now I know how to find, chase and destroy monsters that hide under beds and how to monitor the performance of magical creatures like Santa, elves and tooth fairies to make sure they do their job as expected! [It has to be done people! Unfortunately the tooth fairy has been known for forgetting to put the bills under the pillow! SMH!]

Not much!

BUT I did manage to master another skill: procrastinating in a way that is totally productive! And I’ll tell you more about it next week! 🙂

Reading now

I’m falling into my “oh-so-predictable” Springgedon reading slump where eARCs are the first to be abandoned. I’m just too exhausted at night to read eBooks. I just fall asleep. So, not much progress with Slip yet even though the premise is fantastic!  Also, I still have a severe fantasy allergies. I tried Gilded Cage as an eARCs and audio book and I still can’t get through it! I’m trying the hardcover now but I’m progressing veeeeeryyyy sloooowly.

So, thank god for Sci-Fi,  and Contemporary YA!

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet is SO GOOD! I’m 30% in and nothing really has happened BUT the world and character development it’s so fantastic I’m absolutely in love with it!

The Orphan’s Tale has one of those gripping beginnings that only a WWII/Holocaust book can provide. OH.MY.GOD! This first chapter has the most HORRIBLE scene I have ever read!!! Including horror books!! BUT I had to put aside for a while because I got two Contemporary YA that had a very loooong waiting list at the library and I can’t let them expired on me!

So I just started listening to Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before too! 🙂

I’m #Blogging too

I was NOT so much of a writing beast BUT I did manage to blog decently last week. If you haven’t yet, you gotta check my reviews of The Hate U Give such a relevant book about undeniable truths! and The Boy in the Stripped Pajama a WWII/Holocaust book that I wanted to love a lot but I didn’t.

Next Reviews

Children’s Book Week is over. So, even though I will still post children’s book reviews once in a while, I’ll be back at reviewing to mostly Young Adult and Adult books. Don’t miss any of these upcoming reviews for fantastic Sci-Fi, Dystopian/ApocalypticMagical Realism and Diverse / Own-Voices books.

What about you? How was your week?
What did you read? What are you reading next?

Thank you for visiting!
