Scarlet – Five howling stars

Because it’s all about wolf!

I just felt like howling at the moon after reading this book!

5 howling stars!

About the book

[Public Library Audio Book]

Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.

Could this cute little thingy of a book be better than Cinder???

How come??? Wasn’t Cinder the “ULTIMATE thing”??

Oh, yes it was! PFFF, BUT that was before…

Besides with Scarlet I got to know the characters more, new adorable characters are introduced, like…

And more of the extraordinary world, is revealed. Which remember I said it was BETTER than Star Wars???

Sooooo, why did I like Scarlet MORE than Cinder?

Well let’s start with hero in Cinder…. Imperator Kai. [excuse me while I roll my eye rudely huge]

I forgot to mention this in my review of Cinder because, you know, I was just idiotically bedazzled, book but Kai was a IMMENSE  disappointment. A very weak hero.

Confessions time

I’m a little sexist as it comes to my heroes.

If I roll my eyes at weak heroines imagine weak heroes

[not billionaires or sparkly lunatic control freaks, there is a HUGE difference]

But Wolf [sighs], Scarlet’s hero, more than made up for the lacking hero in Cinder.

[Because everything in life is a trade-off, Scarlet came up as was a weaker heroine compared to Cinder AND THAT’S OK. I’m a feminist, which means EQUAL rights no female supremacy.]

So I’m ok with the XYs taking the spotlight as well 🙂

So back to Wolf [sighs]…To me this book, Scarlet, was all about Wolf.

He is…. A WEREWOLF [of kinda, according to the book Wolf is a human-wolf hybrid, which is a really a werewolf right?]

Oh. Yes. WELCOME Mr. WEREWOLF. And such adorable werewolf!

[sorry sparkly vampires fans but I was ALWAYS Team Jacob and Team Alcide]

This book is all about wolf and his pack of “Lunar Operatives”.

Werewolves. Lunars Operatives.

Like in black ops from the moon. Stationed in IN FRANCE.

[nope there is not]

That’s another thing I adore about The Lunar Chronicles!.

It’s Sci-fi. Its urban fantasy but it’s SO earthy. No far away planets. No galactic empires. No super alien worlds that I have a hard time remembering. Everything happens either on Earth or the Moon.

And Scarlet is even “earthier” than Cinder because everything in this book happens on earth !

Each standalone book is a gem but the series is a treasure. The way everything ties together, the way new characters and stories are introduced so seamlessly. And to think Cinder was a DNF the first time around. I was a PNR reader back then and reading Sci-fi was exhausting sometimes for me and I have never being into retellings. But this series is SO NOT a retelling.

The female characters are inspired in fairy tales but that’s it; not the plot, nor the story arc, or even the characters’ arcs.

MEYER you are a genius!

So I’m just gonna put it out there. Plainly. Do you still want us to be friends??? Then you GOTTA read The Lunar Chronicles!

Ha! KIDDING! Well maybe just partially kidding because if you don’t read the Lunar Chronicles THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU. So I’ll have a very cautious friendship with you.

Kidding [or not. Still deciding]

In the meantime… GO READ IT! It’s SO GOOD!

Thank you for visiting!
