#AmReading, #AmWriting and I’m #blogging! 28

Oh man, I can’t with all the voices in my head! HELP!

Hello my dearest apocalyptic beings,

I ALMOST didn’t get to post today. Spinggedon is in full gear. Tons of sport practices, games, tournaments, homework, school projects, PARCC tests…  It’s harder and harder to find time and energy to read, write and blog.

Against all odds! 🙂 Letting you know what happened last week and what’s coming next…

Family Life

Continues to be awesome! The weather is nice and we now spend tons of time outside. This is Butterfly eating her afternoon snack by the water in our little pond.

Both Butterfly and Grasshopper’s soccer teams have been kicking butts around. 🙂

They have played six games so far and won five, by big differentials. But, you know something people… It’s not about winning, it’s about having fun!

Friday and Saturday they participated in the FC Boston’s Scorpion Bawl Tournament here in New England and did AWESOME too! HELL YEAH!

My Butterfly is the littlest in these three pictures… 🙂

Here she is… aerial! 🙂

Coach is awesome!

And we also found the time to get together with my brother and sister in law who made this delicious chocolate stuffed churros…

AND I found the time to do yoga again! So, I’ll be posting about my beautiful temple tomorrow. Here is a sneak peek…

So I guess that could be helping because… yours truly is still a writing beast because…

Too! I have written 11.2K words so far! WHOHOOOOO!

But man I have to say the last 2K words were excruciatingly painful to write. It took me forever to write them. I was not inspired at all so I broke the rules and read everything I had written because I needed to find direction again!

I took all the willpower of the universe for me not to start editing and rewriting but…

I was able to resist the temptation, but boy that reading my draft was like watching multiple personality physiological thriller! The style, the voices OMG! I’d give myself one start right now. It’s all over the place!

Since I have been working on my WIP for so long not only the plot, story arc and characters have changed a lot, but also the writing style, voice and genre! You can tell whatever I was reading at the moment was influencing my writing. The premise started as an alternative history/historical fantasy and kinda retelling of a famous legend or myth. Then it turns into more of a fantasy, but the love scenes sound like PNR, then it turns more into a dark urban fantasy and recently it feels more like a dystopian/apocalyptic.

This draft is just like an adolescent! Emotions all over the place: melancholic, nostalgic, gritty, cruel, suspenseful…

SMH! My writing needs some serious therapy!

And… so I don’t go completely insane with frustration…. Thank god still…

Reading Now

My “reading next have not change at all since last Sunday

But I did make some progress with my…

Pending ARCs

And this is what you can expect coming soon as…

Next Reviews

And I tried, I really tried to stay away from NetGalley but I HAD to request this one.

OMG! Sounds SO AWESOME!  Look at that cover and that title!

They had me at ” can magically call forth sin from a sinner in the form of sin-beasts”

OMG I hope I get approved!

Yay for soccer wins. 🙂 And the churros are kinda making me hungry? Great job on the writing though! That’s awesome. Hope it continues to flow.

The Disappearances has caught my eye now that I’ve seen the synopsis. And I love that cover of Note Worthy.

I’ve always wanted to live in close to water as it is the one thing that relaxes me when I’m stressed…I’m so jealous of you! Looking at the churros is also making me hungry…I need to get my hands on some to try! This week was quiet as usual, nothing special happening. I haven’t read as much as I’d have liked so more effort needs to be put in this week. The blogging side of things is going well which is good. Now I just need to restrain myself from buying books this week…

oh I hope one day you get to live on the water too chuckles. It is relaxing. I bought the house almost in ruins Had to invest a lot in it but I was happy because of the water 😉 Churros Churros I should stay away from them churros! 😀 Your blog is always going well! Now I’m the one jealous 😉

LOL!!! Had fun reading your post – – but yes, I also believe the voices in your head is making you a bit crazy! There are soooo many……!!! Just don’t start answering them hey. Your ARC pile will make me go bonkers. I try to keep it as low as possible. TBR is out of control. Tried to tie it down last month, but yes – I also gave in to temptation!!!

Hope you will have a good week!

Oh and I’ll be looking out for your review on Wolf by Wolf. I’ve heard about that one….

    • Dragonfly @ Our Familiarium

hahhah you made me smile too with your reply Mareli 🙂 Ok I WILL ignore the voices 😉 Oh and I definitely ignore the ARC pile too. Otherwise I want to lock myself up! Wolf by Wolf should be coming up on the blog next week! One word… AH-MAZING!

Ugh PARCC testing! I’m so over state testing (my students had to do theirs for the last 2 weeks; thankfully now we are on Spring Break!). When your butterfly is arial she is just as big as the other kids! 🙂 Hope their teams continue to kick butt!
    That yoga space looks beautiful!
    Have a great week!

Love the pics of Butterfly’s footballing exploits – it brings back memories of standing at the touchline supporting my son! Yes – I think going back and rereading what you’ve written if you hit a brick wall is a good strategy and one I regularly employ when I get stuck. It’s scary how quickly you can fall ‘outside’ your written world if you have had any kind of break. Glad you’ve managed to break through it and get back in touch with it. Beasts Made of Night looks awesome – no wonder you cracked! Hope you have a good week:). My Sunday Post – https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2017/04/16/sunday-post-16th-april-2017/

We had some nice weather as well here the last week or so, but today it’s cold and windy. Nice picture of your daughter eating her lunch outside. I do think sports are about the fun, but it sure is nice if they win sometimes as well. That’s great they won 5 of the 6 games so far!

Oh those churros look so good. I wish I could taste one of them, yum!

Sounds like you’re writing is going well even if it needs a lot of editing.

Beats made of Night does sound interesting. I also have a hard time staying away from netgalley, although I didn’t got any new netgalley books this week, I did just sort of ruin that and got an edelweiss book though. Have a great week!

  • Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews

WooHoo for soccer games where your girl’s team wins, D. Of course it’s more fun cheer for our kids when they manage to win 🙂

Your book list up there is drool-worthy, well done!

And congrats on writing once more. I’m sure that the feelings all over the place will end up working just fine!

Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

You write such an entertaining post! Loved the pond photo and the one of Butterfly in the air at her football match. Oh my surely you are not reading all those pending ARCs at once!! Yes when there is a book you really want to read you just HAVE to request it!!

  • Di @ Book Reviews by Di

Aww! Your Butterfly is so gorgeous by the water! What an awesome photo op! I also love the girls arm in arm in their uniforms. Very cool.

My stomach does not thank you for the churros picture. Actually, my stomach probably does but my waistline does not!!

As always I’m playing catchup on all my things but I’m closer to being caught up than I was last week… I think. 😉

  • Amanda @ To Read or Not To Read?

11.2k? You are a writing beast! I applaud your self control, Dragonfly; sometimes NOT editing while writing is the hardest thing to do! Way to go!
Oooh, Beasts Made Of Night sounds interesting. The bit about monsters made out of guilt reminds me of The Knots Duology, where vows were bound with magic in rope knots and if the vow was ever broken, they would be haunted by that magic in the form of some kind of shadow demon.
Good luck with the soccer goings on!
