About the Movie

Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs.
“Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. The film stars: Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar (R) winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe (R) nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award (R) winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts. Directed by Oscar (R) winner Bill Condon based on the 1991 animated film, “Beauty and the Beast” is produced by Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, with eight-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken, who won two Academy Awards (R) (Best Original Score and Best Song) for the 1991 animated film, providing the score, which will include new recordings of the original songs written by Menken and Howard Ashman, as well as several new songs written by Menken and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice.

You people have watch this movie!!!

I don’t know how the Disney people manage to outdo themselves every time. This production was just…

[and this is coming from someone who doesn’t like musicals too much]

I was VERY IMPRESSED with how real the settings looked. They were the same settings of the original cartoon version made into 3D models. The colors, the textures, so perfect! Especially the castle! This castle is hands down…

The details are unbelievable. Just exquisite.

And just look at the cast! The cast of Golden Globe and Oscar nominees was fantastic too of course.

You can’t go wrong with Emma Watson. She was the perfect Belle. She has a special place in my heart since Hermione Granger and her performance got me all teary more than once! And… Well there is Luke Evans, Gaston [sigh] who I adore since Dracula Untold.

I liked that everything in the original story was vamped up. The action is more intense, the drama more heartbreaking, the romance more swooning, the dialogues and characters more realistic. Belle is probably one of my favorite Disney heroins. She is smart, independent and doesn’t care that people call her “odd” because she refuses to be like the other maidens in the village. She is also brave and saves Beast as much as he saves her! And best of all, she is a bookworm like yours truly! 😍

AND THE END! Oh my. Much more intense, dramatic, tear inducing. [I had to discretely wiped away few tears] 😢

And ALMOST everyone in the audience clapped.

And even though I would never be caught dead admitting it… maybe.. I clapped as well. 😉

Thank you for visiting!
