Arrival – 4.5 philosophical stars

Because there is no meaning to life, only questions!

About the movie

Critics are calling Arrival “the best film of the year.”* When mysterious spacecraft touch down across the globe, an elite team — led by expert translator Louise Banks (Amy Adams) — races against time to decipher their intent. As tensions mount between fearful governments, Banks discovers the aliens’ true purpose and, to avert global war, takes a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity. Jeremy Renner and Academy Award® winner** Forest Whitaker co-star in this mesmerizing masterpiece with “a mind-blowing ending”*** that “you will want to see again and again.”****

Every time I watch one if this “Contact” type of movies I become a babbling mess of “huh???”s and this HUMONGOUS question mark shaped balloon…

Questions… questions… questions…

Floating away into a universe is so vast and out of reach for our limited understanding, and all we have is speculation.

And we always interpret everything but especially the unknown through the limited lenses of our own individuality our past experiences fears and dreams for the future, like the amoeba under the microscope trying to figure out all humankind through the microscope studying it.

So that was me watching the movie.

We humans live in a three-dimensional world bound by time but… What if we could lift that barrier? What if we could exist in a reality where time is not linear? Would we reach the promised paradise? Immortality? Exist in a never-ending present? If you could see your whole life start to finish… Would you change anything?

This movie delivers all that’s promised! Shock, uncertainty, gripping, suspense, tension.

Questions… questions… questions…

Why are they here? Kill us? Eat us? Help us? And how are we, humans, reacting to them? Defensively? Alienating them more? Are we gonna screw it all up with our human approach “conquer, before you are conquered”?
Like all that??? Go watch it! This was one if those stories that will make you think and a little differently . 🙂

What about you? Have you watch this movie? Did you like it?

Thank you for visiting!
