Review

So this movie is about… drum roll… one of the Seven Wonders in the world: the Great Wall of China! Great start right? But that’s not all!

It’s about one of the legends of what they were trying to keep out… Well they were trying to keep these atrocious things, the “Taotie”, from wiping out humankind. I won’t describe too much because I don’t want to spoil it for you, but I’ll tell you they are brutal, have eyes in the wrong places, they are super smart, they can communicate, work as a team and strategize. They don’t leave any of them behind and learn from their mistakes. An invincible army!

But fear not! Because the “Nameless Order” has been preparing for AGES to fight them and is pure badassery. These warriors are as brave and honorable as my beloved Brothers of the Night’s Watchwho defend the Seven Kingdoms from the Wildlings and White Walkers who live beyond The wall.

The warriors of the “Nameless Order” are organized in factions that when they gather together at the big hall they look just like the Hogwart Houses with their distinct colors and animals. They wear this stunning armors that are a visual feast with their jewels tones [magenta purple, sapphire blue, etc] and the helmets resembling their animal. SO CIRQUE DU SOLEIL.

My favorite is the female faction of course. Commanded by petite but super badass Lin Mae, they are acrobatic warriors whose fighting style is to DIVE into these creatures and kill them in a one to one aerial combat!

And that is one of the factions! Imagine all of them, divers, archery, artillery, synchronized with clockwork precision and you get this impressive otherworldly battles against huge Taotie swarms.

EPIC!

Then they zoom in and each single fight is so elegantly choreographed.

NEAT!

So then add these two ruthless mercenaries William and Pero that came from Spain looking for gunpowder and that are pretty funny and…

Stunning scenery, compelling characters, fantastic story, even more fantastic creatures… Hell, yes!

I.LOVED.THIS.MOVIE!
