And our Butterfly performed there!
Coppélia is the enchanting love story of Swanhilda, a girl who pretends to be a doll in order to regain the affection of her love interest, Frantz because he is attracted to Coppélia a life-size doll. Butterfly had the role of a “Dawn” in the third act of this beautiful holiday tradition!
She rehearsed weekly for both Coppélia and The Nutcracker since she auditioned back in September and more intensely as the performance days approached. Last Thursday she was at the theater for six hours and we got home almost at midnight. Then she was up again at 7:00 in the morning to perform twice last Friday! She was at the theater for 12 hours Friday!
This is picture of the company warming up in the theater with the Director of the School.
Parents couldn’t stay backstage so I only was able to take a couple of pictures. I love all backstage hustle and bustle and watch the girls get ready in their beautiful outfits, so I hope my schedule allows me to volunteer as a backstage parent next year!
Her last performance was Saturday afternoon and she went straight to a soccer game and then up again Sunday morning to rehearse for the Nutcracker.
We couldn’t be prouder of her hard work, dedication and commitment, especially since she is only eight!
Besides the skills and confidence she is gaining with all these extracurricular commitments she is making great memories and friendships and she thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!
So we are very grateful she had this wonderful opportunity.
Thank you for visiting!
