The making of a ballerina…

The Nutcracker!

Drumroll please…. Last night Butterfly performed in the Nutcracker for the first time! IT WAS WONDERFUL!!! We are hoping for many more to come! 🙂

After all those weeks and long hours of rehearsal she was finally on stage! She had two performances yesterday, one in the morning and one in the evening, which is the one I attended.

Beetle-D and Grasshopper will be at this evening’s show.

As a former dancer I’m especially fond of stages, backstages, makeup, costumes and everything ballet related. To be able to do this all over again with Butterfly was amazing. I only performed in schools and small local shows, though. What she is doing is SOMETHING ELSE ALTOGETHER! She is performing in a theater were the Lion King will be in a couple of months!

So we are ridiculously proud of her. 🙂

It has been a wonderful journey to see her transform from “my baby” into a responsible little performer. So serious. So dedicated.

I enjoy being a dance mom SO MUCH! I’ll be helping tonight in the boutique and I hope I can volunteer as a backstage mom next year to help with the costumes, hair and makeup. One of my favorite things to do is getting Butterfly ready for her performances. There is just something magical about transforming a girl into a ballerina!

I loved everything about being a dance mom, even the “dangerous”. 🙂

This is us waking the ten blocks from the parking lot to the theater in the cold and dark downtown to get for her stage rehearsal. I have to say, when she was done with her rehearsal and we had to do it again at 10:30 p.m., it was a little scary! But of course Butterfly had a blast when I dragged her and rushed her all the way back to the parking lot saying “hurry up I don’t like that guy over there alone in that dark alley” [that’s why the pics are a little blurry lol] She felt she was in some kind of action/horror movie. And she absolutely LOVES edgy movies (horror, mysteries, etc] I wonder who she takes after? HA! 🙂

She is Maleficent ‘s offspring after all 🙂

The show… OMG!!! Spectacular! Breathtaking! The company did an AMAZING job!!!

The theater was packed! Full house. Isn’t this a BEAUTIFUL theater?

After the show Butterfly and I went for a well deserved girls night out, where of course, there was Sangria involved 🙂

Hope life gives you plenty of reasons to be proud and joyful too!

Thank you for visiting!
